Splendora, a Class 4A, played up two levels Saturday morning and took a 26-24, 15-25, 26-24, 25-16 at Class 6A Conroe.

Splendora (15-4) caps the week a perfect 3-0 after winning another non-district match at Madisonville Friday night.

Splendora got a double-double by senior Melaney Owens who had 13 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore Falon Buford had eight kills and a team-high 26 assists. Senior Ashton Schulz led in digs with 16. Junior Jalynn Knight had six kills and senior Katie Brozowski added five kills.

Conroe (1-2) got a double-double of 12 kills and 12 digs by senior Abby Calhoun. Senior Saege Anzeuto had a team-high 29 digs while junior Brooke Ashton had 13 digs and a team-high 20 assists.

Senior Shelby Adams led Conroe with 13 kills while senior Mikayla Anderson added 12.

Splendora picks back in District 21-4A Tuesday at home against Hardin-Jefferson.

Conroe travels to Westfield for a non-district match Monday night.

Magnolia West stays unbeaten after two victories

Magnolia West beat Kingwood Park (25-21, 24-26, 25-15, 25-23) and Nederland (25-17, 25-16, 25-11) at a tri-match hosted by the Lady Panthers Saturday morning.

The Mustangs improve to 4-0 to conclude the first week of the season.

Against Kingwood Park, senior Alyssa May had a double-double of 18 kills and 15 digs. Senior Ally Wendel had 16 digs while senior Dani Wysocki added 11. Freshman Bethany May had a team-high 41 assists. Junior Alexa Hayes and senior Frankie Mullens had contributed seven kills.

In the Nederland sweep, Alyssa May led in kills with 16, Wysocki led in digs with 10 and Bethany May had 25 assists.

Magnolia West travels to nearby Montgomery for a 6 p.m. match Tuesday.

Lady Highlanders earn sweep

The state-ranked Woodlands Lady Highlanders swept Cypress Ranch 25-16, 25-18, 25-11 Saturday afternoon in a non-district match.

The Woodlands (3-0), ranked No. 3 in Class 6A by the TGCA, was led by senior Claire Arend, who had 11 of the team’s 40 kills. She also had 11 digs for a double-double.

Junior Reagan Whatley added nine kills.

Senior Clara Brower had 29 assists, 13 digs and added seven kills. Senior Jackie Lee had a team-high 20 digs while sophomore Molly Tuozzo had 11 digs.

The Lady Highlanders host College Station Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Grand Oaks has successful Saturday

The Grand Oaks Grizzlies earned a pair of sweeps Saturday afternoon on the road.

Grand Oaks, which has now won three straight matches, beat Cypress Falls 25-22, 25-18, 25-8 and followed that up with a 25-13, 25-12, 25-18 win over Katy Taylor.

Grand Oaks (3-1) returns to action Tuesday with a 5:30 p.m. match against former district foe New Caney.

New Caney drops two

New Caney dropped a pair of matches as it hosted Huntsville and Crosby Saturday morning.

The Lady Eagles (1-3) lost in five to Huntsville 25-19, 20-25, 13-25, 25-23, 6-15 and were swept by Crosby 25-16, 25-19, 25-20.

New Caney travels to Grand Oaks to play a former district foe from last season Tuesday at 6 p..m.

Caney Creek falls at Tomball Memorial

Tomball Memorial topped Caney Creek 25-7, 25-8, 25-11 in a non-district match Saturday afternoon.

Senior Marissa Hanson led the Lady Panthers (0-3) in kills with five and digs with seven. Senior Jamiyah Willis added three kills and had an ace. Sophomore Emily Bockelman had six assists.

Caney Creek has a tri-match Tuesday at Bryan. Brenham is the third team. Starts at 5 p.m.

College Park suffers first loss

College Park was swept at Cypress Woods Saturday afternoon in a non-district match.

It was the first setback of the season for the Lady Cavaliers (2-1).

Seniors Abby Kremer, Donyah Cosie and Paige Palmer each had six kills while sophomore Mallory Madison had five. College Park had 28 kills total to 22 errors.

Senior Alexis McDaniel led in digs with 20 while Madison added 12 and Molly Harris added 11. Harris led in assists with 12 whilePaige Bernstein added 11.

The Lady Cavaliers return to action Tuesday at Bridgeland.

Tomball sweeps Willis

The Tomball Cougars picked up a 25-12, 25-15, 25-21 sweep of Willis in a meeting of recent district foes which moved up to Class 6A this season.

For Willis (1-2), sophomore Caroline Woodfill had 20 digs while junior Taylor Thomas had 14 and senior Bella Cantara had 12.

Junior Reece Edmiston had 10 assists while junior Georgia Everett had four kills.

Willis hosts Cypress Falls at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Lake Creek wins two five-set matches Friday

Lake Creek hosted Huntsville and Bryan and picked up five-set wins in each match Friday night.

Against Huntsville (25-12, 12-25, 25-16, 22-25, 15-10), sophomore Payton Woods led with 14 kills, sophomore Lauren Greene led with 20 assists, sophomore Mason Riley had 25 digs. Woods also had six of the Lions’ 15 aces.

Against Bryan (22-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-10), Woods once again led in kills with 16 while junior Anna Ertischek had 10. Woods also had 23 digs. Greene had 22 assists and Riley led in digs with 26. Senior Alexis Mack had five aces.

Lake Creek hosts A&M Consolidated in a non-district match Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
