The Conroe Lady Tigers reached the championship of the Stafford Tournament on Saturday placed second after a 25-14, 25-14 loss to Goose Creek Memorial.
Conroe defeated Dekaney 25-12, 25-17 and Sweeny 25-16, 25-16 to reach the championship. The Lady Tigers (15-12) won all three of their matches on Thursday to qualify for the championship bracket.
Against Goose Creek Memorial, Amanda Rivera had seven kills and 11 digs. Saege Anzueto led in digs with 19 Nicole Bokanyi had a team-best 10 assists while Shelby Adams had six.
Earlier in the day against Dekaney, T’lisha Washington and Abby Calhoun each had four kills. Adams led in digs with five and assists with eight.
Against Sweeny, Washington had six kills and digs, Anzueto had 11 digs and Bokanyi had eight assists.
Conroe picks back up District 15-6A on Tuesday at Klein Oak.
OAK RIDGE WINS SILVER
The Oak Ridge Lady War Eagles swept its three matches on Saturday to win the Silver Bracket at the Clear Creek ISD Tournament.
Oak Ridge beat Katy Tompkins (25-17, 25-23), Katy (25-19, 25-18) and Deer Park (18-25, 25-17, 25-13).
Alex Singleton had 11 kills, Katie Mullen had eight and Maddie Hall had seven against Deer Park. Julia Neveu had 24 digs while Singleton had 14, Abby Fowler had 13 and Piper Boydstun had 12. Boydstun led in assists with 16 and Avery Fowler had 13.
To start off against Tompkins, Singleton had eight kills while Mullen had seven and Hall had five. Neveu had 14 digs while Abby Fowler and Singleton each had 10. Avery Fowler had 12 assists while Boydstun had 11.
Singleton also led in kills against Katy with nine. Boydstun had six, Mullen had five and Hall had four. Boydstun led in digs (18) and was tied for the team-high in assists (11). Neveu added 16 digs while Singleton had 13. Avery Fowler also had 11 assists.
Oak Ridge (18-10) continues District 15-6A on Tuesday at Klein Collins.
MAGNOLIA TOPS STATE CHAMPS, FINISHES 1-1
Magnolia concluded its play at the Clear Creek ISD Tournament with a 20-25, 27-25, 25-15 win over defending Class 5A state champs Kingwood Park. The Lady Bulldogs fell earlier in the day to District 19-5A foe College Station 25-11, 25-13.
Against Kingwood Park, Magnolia (13-6) was led by Marissa Moffatt with 12 kills and she had seven digs. Kendall Boggan had 10 kills. Kaitlyn Fojt led in digs with 14 while Claire Mccusker added 13 and Megan Plant had 10. Mccusker had 29 assists.
Against College Station, Fojt had six digs and Mccusker had five assists.
Magnolia hosts Tomball Memorial in a non-district match on Friday.
