The newest location of Torchy’s Tacos hosted a celebration on Monday in The Woodlands to show off the location to area residents and taco lovers. Hundreds of folks were on hand for free tacos, chips and queso and assorted beverages. The Oak Ridge High School band played tunes and a DJ rocked beats later in the evening.
The new location is inside The Woodlands Mall outerbelt at 1555 Lake Woodlands Drive, joining the original location of the Austin-based franchise in the township, which is at the intersection of Research Forest Drive and Gosling Road.
Jason Black, a managing partner of the new Torchy’s, said more than 1,200 invitations were responded to for the event and he estimated hundreds of local residents were on hand for the celebration of the new eatery at The Woodlands Mall.
The event featured free tacos for all attendees, as well as free chips and queso, T-shirts, beer from Saitn Arnold’s and Karback Brewing, Topo Chico and other swag. The famous Torchy’s baby devil was on hand, too, joining members of the Oak Ridge High School band as they belted out popular tunes and entertained the crowd.
The official opening of the restaurant is Wednesday, Oct. 9.
