Willis started strong at its home tournament on Thursday, defeating Lovelady, 7-2, in six innings and Coldspring-Oakhurst 15-0 in three innings.
Marissa Fletcher led the way against Lovelady, going 2 for 4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Lainey Niederhofer was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Fletcher pitched six innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs. She had eight strikeouts and one walk.
Fletcher homered against Coldspring-Oakhurst and totaled three RBIs. Niederhofer was 3 for 3 (double) with four RBIs. Kynlei Chapman was 3 for 3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Kakeyana Bankhead also drove in three runs.
Chapman didn’t allow a hit in three innings and struck out eight out of the nine total outs.
Conroe rolls past Spring Legacy
Conroe’s offense came alive in the second game at the Brenham Tournament on Thursday, falling to Elgin, 4-2, and defeating Spring Legacy, 12-1.
Kennedy Powell led the Lady Tigers (5-3) against Elgin, going 3 for 3 with an RBI. Izzy Lozada had a double and an RBI.
Jaylynn Dishongh pitched four innings, allowing six hits and one earned run. Lozada pitched three innings, allowing four hits and one earned run.
Powell was 2 for 4 with a homer, a double and four RBIs against the Titans. Bella Salas also homered and drove in three runs. Zharia Jack was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Lozada pitched five innings with one earned run allowed on two hits. She struck out six.
Conroe continues the tournament today as it plays HYCA (1 p.m.) and Lake Creek (3 p.m.).
Lake Creek shines on first day of tourney
Lake Creek defeated Waller 2-0 and Thorndale 14-1 to begin the Brenham Tournament on Thursday.
Against Waller, Madelyn Lopez and Kalee Rochinski each had an RBI for the Lions (9-0) while Ava Brown pitched the complete-game two-hitter with four strikeouts.
Maddie McKee hit a grand slam and scored three runs against Thorndale. Emiley Kennedy and Jenny Robison also homered. Robison totaled three RBIs on two hits while Kennedy was 3 for 3. Caelee Clark had a triple and two RBis.
Brenna Kelly pitched five innings for the win. She struck out five and allowed one earned run on two hits.
Lake Creek continues the tournament today at 1 p.m. against HYCA and 3 p.m. against Conroe.
Oak Ridge takes two wins
Oak Ridge won its first two games of the Brenham Tournament and extended its winning streak to three after an 8-0 win over Elgin and a 10-3 victory over Spring Legacy.
Freshman Savanna Conway pitched a complete game in the circle with four strikeouts against Elgin. Samantha Graeter hit two homers and totaled four RBIs on a 4 for 4 day. Cheyenne Conway and Isabella Mazur each had two RBIs.
Morgan Dutton then homered twice against Spring Legacy. She had four RBIs on three hits. Ariel Redmon was 3 for 4 (triple) with three runs and two RBIs. Kaitlynn Martinez also had a triple.
Alexia Villegas pitched six innings with four strikeouts and two earned runs.
The Lady War Eagles face Navasota (1 p.m.) and Waller (3 p.m.) today at Navasota.
Lady Mustangs play trio of games
Magnolia West went 1-2 on the first day of the Cy-Fair ISD Tournament with losses to Klein Cain (11-2) and Cypress Woods (5-0) before bouncing back to win over Cypress Springs (8-0).
The Mustangs (8-3) got a double and an RBI apiece by Liberty Herrera and Lakyn Hacker against Klein Cain.
Hailey Toney provided all three Magnolia West hits against Cypress Woods.
Toney then went 2 for 2 with an RBI against Cypress Springs. Haleigh McDonald, Toni Tamborello, Hacker and Orr each had one RBI. Alivia Kiser was 2 for 2 with a double. Tamborello struck out five.
The tournament continues Saturday.
Splendora edges Magnolia in local battle
Splendora split a pair of games at the Willis Tournament on Thursday, falling to Lovelady in five innings, 9-1, and beating Magnolia in six innings, 5-4.
The Ladycats (3-6) managed just one hit against Lovelady. Honor Knott had a solo home run.
Brooke Martin pitched three innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs. She posted five strikeouts.
Splendora had 14 hits against Magnolia. Knott led the way once again, going 3 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI. Katie Brzowski was also 3 for 4 with an RBI, and Alyssa McKenna had two hits and two RBIs. Peggy Barron drove in a run, and Brooke Martin and Brooklyn Atkins each had two hits.
Martin pitched six innings, allowing nine hits and two earned runs. She finished with three strikeouts.
Splendora returns to action today against Willis at 10:45 a.m. and Coldspring-Oakhurst at 2:15 p.m.
