A&M Consolidated earned the No. 3-seed out of District 19-5A after beating Magnolia 11-4 in a tiebreaker Monday afternoon in Brenham.
The Lady Tigers (21-8) scattered 16 hits and used a five-run third inning to pull away.
Magnolia (21-5) got a 2-for-4 game by Alex Dubose, who doubled and drove in two runs. Baylee Lemons was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Lyndsey Gleason also had an RBI.
A&M Consolidated will play District 20-5A runner-up Lake Creek in the Region III-5A bi-district playoffs starting with Game 1 Wednesday at the Lions’ home field.
Magnolia, which takes the No. 4-seed is set to play District 20-5A champion Willis. Game 1 is slated for Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Shelly Field in Willis.
Splendora defeats defending state champs
The Splendora Ladycats topped Liberty 10-0 in five innings to wrap District 21-4A Monday evening.
The Ladycats (23-3), the league champions, got homers by Gracie Bumpurs, Caleigh Millican and Leah Hensarling. Bumpurs (2-for-2) and Millican each had three RBIs and Hensarling had two. Kaicey Hagler had an RBI and Shaelyn Sanders 2-for-3 with a double.
Millican struck out six and allowed just one hit to the defending Class 4A champions.
Splendora await the winner of a tiebreaker game between Hardin-Jefferson and Hamshire-Fannett in the Region III-4A bi-district playoffs later this week.
