Oak Ridge beat South Houston 3-2 on Thursday to open play in the Deer Park Tournament.

The War Eagles (6-0-1) established a 3-0 lead before South Houston added two goals in the final 10 minutes. Allen Jaimes scored first, then Luis Vargas made it 2-0 off an assist from Tanner Metz. Vargas assisted the third goal, which was scored by Tristan Monteblanco.

Oak Ridge is back in action Friday at 5:30 p.m. against host Deer Park.

The Woodlands wins

The Woodlands opened up play in its home Highlander Invitational with a 2-0 win over C.E. King on Thursday.

The Highlanders (5-1-2) scored both goals in the second half. Max Coady opened scoring with a header off of a corner kick. Then, in the 68th minute, Davin Hickman-Chow set up Graham Miller for a breakaway that the forward finished. Sebastian Pardo was between the pipes for the shutout.

The Woodlands is back in action at noon Friday against former District 15-6A foe Klein Forest. The game will be played at Woodforest Bank Stadium.

Conroe tops K-Park

Conroe beat Kingwood Park 3-1 Thursday in the Highlander Invitational.

Carlos Salinas scored twice for the Tigers (4-1-2) and David De La Paz netted one goal.

Conroe is back in action against C.E. King at 6 p.m. Friday.

College Park shut out

College Park opened tournament play at Lufkin with a 2-0 loss to Nederland on Thursday.

The Cavaliers (5-3-1) are back in action 4 p.m. Friday against Jacksonville.

Magnolia West earns draw

Magnolia West closed out its non-district schedule Wednesday with a 1-1 tie against Langham Creek.

Fernando Campos scored the goal for the Mustangs (5-2-1).

Magnolia West kicks off District 19-5A play at home Tuesday against rival Magnolia at 7:30 p.m.

Splendora ties, wins

Splendora opened play in its home tournament with a scoreless draw against Port Arthur Memorial and a 1-0 win over Diboll on Thursday.

The Ladycats (1-3-1) opened the day with the scoreless draw, then beat Diboll with Yulitza Benito’s goal that followed a corner kick from Joselyn Gonzalez.

Splendora will play just once Friday at 8:30 a.m. against Cleveland, which lost 2-1 to Vidor on Thursday in its tournament opener.
