The Conroe Tigers earned a win for the second straight day at The Woodlands Tournament as it topped C.E. King 3-0 Friday evening at Woodforest Bank Stadium.
Conroe (5-0-3) got a pair of goals by Alexsis Lopez while David De La Paz added the other goal.
The Tigers wrap up the tournament today with an 11:30 a.m. contest with Klein Forest.
Caney Creek edges Grand Oaks
Caney Creek beat Grand Oaks 3-2 at home Friday in a meeting of former district opponents.
The Panthers (3-3-1) got a goal apiece from Jose Pena, Mario Leon and Jessy Villa.
The Grizzlies didn’t provide results from their side.
Caney Creek opens District 20-5A play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at home against Montgomery. Grand Oaks (3-5) is at Huffman-Hargrave in non-district action at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Splendora tops Jasper
Splendora continued play in the Hudson Tournament on Friday with a 6-2 win over Jasper.
The Wildcats (7-5-1) got two goals apiece from Fabian Aretega, Hector Villegas and Baruc Delgado.
On Thursday, the Wildcats opened tournament play with a 2-1 loss to Port Neches-Groves. Delgado scored the Splendora goal.
Splendora takes on Palestine today.
Oak Ridge, Deer Park draw
Oak Ridge played tournament host Deer Park to a 3-3 draw Friday.
The War Eagles (6-0-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening half with two goals from Jaír Álvarez and one from Luis Vargas. Allen Jaimes assisted the first Álvarez tally.
Deer Park scored on a penalty kick in the first half to cut into its deficit, then added two more in the second half to draw even.
Oak Ridge takes on Channelview at 3:30 p.m. today.
Eagles fly past Huffman
The New Caney Eagles earned a 5-0 non-district win over Huffman-Hargrave Friday night.
Angel Hernandez led the way for New Caney (2-2) with two goals and an assist. Miguel Rodriguez added a goal and an assist.
Diego Leos and Eduardo Hinojosa each scored goals respectively while Steven Aureoles, Alan Torres and Ricardo Camacho each had one assist.
New Caney begins District 20-5A Tuesday at home against Lake Creek at 7:30 p.m.
GIRLS SOCCER
Splendora, Cleveland draw
Splendora played Cleveland to a 1-1 draw Friday morning in its home tournament.
The Ladycats (1-3-2) got their goal from Angie Cortez.
Splendora will be in bracket play at 8 a.m. today against Lake Creek’s junior varsity squad.
Caney Creek and Conroe tie
Caney Creek and Conroe played to a 1-1 draw Friday night at Buddy Moorhead Stadium.
The Lady Panthers (4-1-2) got a penalty kick by by Julie Mendoza.
For Conroe (0-7-1), which picked up his first point of the season, Evette Fernandez scored.
Caney Creek begins District 20-5A play Tuesday at Montgomery at 7 p.m. Conroe is back in action Feb. 5.
