Thousands of runners braved the chilly temperatures Saturday morning, Oct. 12, in The Woodlands — powering through the 10 for Texas running event which ended in a large celebration at Northshore Park with food, refreshments and activities.

Nick Wolda, president of Visit The Woodlands, said The Woodlands is already known as a runner’s community, with more than 200 miles of prime trails and pathways for runners to cruise on, and the 10 for Texas is just one of many premier road races each year in the community.

“It is a great event for our residents and visitors, although (10 for Texas) is mostly resident-driven,” Wolda said. “(Runners) love the scenic nature of it and the route. People love running over the (Lake Woodlands Drive) bridge and seeking the view.”

Runners were cheered on along the three different course lengths, the longest being the 10-mile run, by locals in colorful outfits and waving signs of with encouraging messages. The event is hosted each fall.
