- Dig all the dirt from the washout all the way to the bottom
- Estimate enough bulkhead cloth (can be purchased from Shoreline Companies on FM 830) to create a sack large enough to fill the resulting hole.
- Weight the sack down to the bottom of the hole with a brick or equivalent.
- Fill the sack with Scott’s Lawn Turf Builder. This soil is shedded and mulchy so does not seep through the cloth when water from the lake washes into it.
- Pack the soil as best you can
As the repaired area settles, fill the area with more Turf Builder until the settling stops. Hopefully you left enough of the bulkhead cloth to reach the top of the bulkhead. When the settling has become minimal, the excess cloth can be trimmed.

That is good advice, if the bulkhead has cracked (panels are seperated, etc.), it also helps to attach some 1×4’s (we use 1×6 Fence Pickets)……..as “crack boards” to the bulkhead prior to installing the “Filtercloth”.
This will generally “patch” the sinkholes for a few years, until a new bulkhead is needed.

We are just now starting the process to build on Lake Conroe only to find they put the bulkhead ten feet into our property line. How difficult and expensive is it to move it out to gain the extra footage to our property line? Where do we begin? Thanks!
