Due to their decades of service to the system, two Lone Star College System professors are scheduled to be honored with the title of Professor Emerita and Professor Emeritus this week.

Scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at the LSC training and development center board room along Research Forest Drive, LSC Board of Trustees members will recognize the dedication of Romana Cortese and Michael McFarland at their monthly meeting.

Special reports and workshops are also to be presented from the chancellor and various faculty members in addition to time given to citizens for public comment. There are 13 items on the consent agenda for trustees to approve, such as decisions to purchase construction services, architectural services and heating, ventilation and air conditioning services for projects across the system.

Notable consent agenda items include a land purchase for the system’s Corporate College Transportation Institute in Spring. Trustees will vote on a 23-acre tract of land to provide ingress and egress sufficient for 18-wheeler traffic from the West Hardy Road to the college.

Trustees are also to vote on the purchase of five police vehicles for the LSC Police Department which are to replace five 10-year-old police fleet vehicles. Funds for this purchase, set as not-to-exceed $209,000, are included in the department’s 2020 operating budget.

The system’s financial report and building and grounds report is also to be given at the end of the meeting.
