Due to a unexpected influx of federal stimulus funds the last stretch of the expansion of I-45 in Montgomery County is scheduled to begin in October.
The 2.6-mile section from just north of Calvary Road to one mile south of the Walker County Road will expand the existing four main lanes to six including a bridge and an intersection at Shepherd Hill Road. This project is scheduled to finish in the spring of 2013.
The section from North Loop 336 in Conroe to FM 830 is estimated for completion in the fall of 2013, while the five miles from FM 830 to Calvary Road is not projected to be finished until the fall of 2014.
This is great news for the Lake Conroe and surrounding areas. It is going to help the traffic flow smoothly and safely throughout the county as well as contribute to greater economic growth in this part of Montgomery County.
