State-ranked Pflugerville Hendrickson eliminated Magnolia 58-48 Wednesday night in the Region III-5A area round played at Caldwell High School.

The Bulldogs (17-11) were in the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2018 and just the fourth time in the past 11 seasons.

Magnolia trailed by 20 after three quarters before outscoring the Hawks 21-11 in the final frame.

It was a balanced night offensive as Connor Lindvall and Tom Osborn each had nine points. Austin Murski added eight points while Colin Jeardoe added seven.

Hendrickson, ranked No. 17 by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, advances to the regional quarterfinal for the first time since 2008. The Hawks will play Austin Anderson.

Lake Creek falls to Anderson

Lake Creek fell 51-37 to state-ranked Austin Anderson in the Region III-5A area round Wednesday night at Bryan Rudder High School.

The Lions (17-9) end their run after making the playoffs for the third straight season.

Anderson, ranked No. 21 by the TABC, will face Pflugerville Hendrickson in the regional quarterfinals.
