Magnolia picked up a big victory over Waller, 37-35, to sweep the season series.

The victory pulled Magnolia (8-14, 6-6) even with Waller (10-8, 6-6) in fourth place in the District 19-5A standings.

Brynn Botkin had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs. Gabrielle Huetter added 14 points and five boards. Emiley Boone added four steals while Claire McCusker passed off for five assists.

Magnolia travels to Brenham Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Magnolia West falls to Rudder

Magnolia West’s playoff hopes took a hit with a 76-59 loss to Bryan Rudder on Friday.

The Mustangs (9-10, 4-8) now sit a pair of games back of fourth place with two district games to go.

In Friday’s loss, Kamari Portalis led the way with 20 points. Faith Ebel added nine points.

Magnolia West is at A&M Consolidated at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Splendora tops Shepherd

Splendora bounced back off a tough loss Tuesday to top Shepherd 49-30 on Friday night in District 21-4A play.

The Ladycats (10-7, 4-5) got 26 points from Mykala Moore in the win. Melaney Owens chipped in 10 points.

Next Friday, Splendora hosts Class 4A No. 1 Hardin-Jefferson at 7 p.m.

Dragons slay Awty International

The John Cooper Dragons had four players in double figures in a 64-23 Southwest Preparatory Conference win over Awty International Friday night.

Ajailah Ogiemywonyi led with 18 points. Aalyssa Rogers closely followed with 17 while Jorynn Ross had 14 and Madison Rogers added 10.

Porter edges Montgomery

Porter outscored Montgomery in the final quarter to top the Bears 41-38 on Thursday night in District 20-5A play.

The Spartans (9-12, 4-5) got 11 points from Azahria Ellis and 10 from Cieara Dinwiddie. Emily Knollenberg chipped in eight points. Porter won the final frame 17-13.

The Bears (4-13, 1-7) were led by Savannah Piro’s 13 points, while Chloe Good scored eight.

Montgomery hosts Lake Creek at 1 p.m. today while Porter hosts Caney Creek at 7 p.m.


Magnolia drops second straight

The Magnolia Bulldogs fell for the second straight game as they lost at Waller 58-51 Friday night in District 19-5A.

The teams split the season series as Magnolia’s record drops to 13-6 overall and 6-2 in league play.

Connor Lindvall made five 3-pointers for the Bulldogs and totaled 21 points. Kyler Fullmer added 15 points while Andrew Bauer had 10.

Magnolia hosts Brenham Tuesday at 6:3 p.m.
