Grand Oaks earned the first varsity victory in program history on Tuesday evening at home, defeating New Waverly 69-30 in non-district action.
Keandra Allen led the way for the Grizzlies (1-1) with 16 points. Nagozi Agoh and Jada Bennett each finished with eight points.
Grand Oaks opens play at the Conroe Lady Tiger Classic at 3:30 p.m. Thursday against Klein Collins.
LAKE CREEK GETS FIRST WIN
Lake Creek beat Aldine Davis 50-37 on the road Tuesday night to earn its first win of the season.
The Lions (1-1) were led by Taliyah McShan’s double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds. Collette Taylor had 12 points and Makenzie Logeman added 10 points. Jasmine Payne led on the boards with 15 rebounds and Natalie Murdock led Lake Creek defensively.
The Lions open play in the Conroe Lady Tiger Classic against Port Arthur Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
MAGNOLIA WEST DOMINANT IN SECOND WIN
Magnolia West build a big lead and cruised to a 63-38 non-district win over Kingwood Park Tuesday night in non-district play.
The Mustangs (2-0) led by 25 points at halftime and had three players in double figures scoring.
Megan Donnelly led Magnolia West in scoring for the second time this season. She had 20 points. Kamryn Jones closely followed with 19 points, including 5 for 6 at the line. Alyssa May totaled 11 points.
The Mustangs play in the Peggy Whitley Tournament starting Thursday.
CANEY CREEK EDGES SPLENDORA
After a tie game at halftime, Caney Creek had just enough in the second half Tuesday night to beat Splendora 34-31 in a non-district game.
Olivia Hernandez had a team-high 11 points for Caney Creek (1-1). Arista Mills hit a 3-pointer, was 4 of 4 from the line and finished with nine points.
For Splendora (1-1), Erin Kendall had 12 points while Jackie Reyes had seven points. The Ladycats were 12 for 21 from the line.
Splendora travels to Big Sandy Friday night. Caney Creek is off until next Tuesday when it travels to North Forest.
NEW CANEY LOSES CLOSE GAME
New Caney fell 54-49 at Clear Creek on Tuesday in non-district play.
The Eagles (0-1) were led by Tori Garza and Abigail Lynch, who had 20 and 18 points, respectively. The game was tied at 26 at halftime and remained a two-point game until Clear Creek pulled away late.
New Caney competes in the Conroe Lady Tiger Classic this weekend beginning Thursday.
CONROE DROPPED BY DEKANEY
Conroe fell 43-37 to Dekaney on the road Tuesday night in non-district play.
The Lady Tigers (0-2) were led by a pair of scorers who reached double-digit points. Miya Evans had 12 points and Lilly Rodel was close behind with 10.
Conroe hosts the Lady Tiger Classic this weekend beginning Thursday.
THE WOODLANDS FALLS SHORT
The Woodlands suffered a 50-48 home loss against Westfield on Tuesday evening.
Anna-Claire Biggerstaff led the Lady Highlanders (0-2) with 17 points and six rebounds. Anna Orr finished with nine points, and Kara Sumodobila added seven points and six rebounds.
The Woodlands returns to action next Tuesday at Katy.
MAGNOLIA FALLS TO KLEIN OAK
Magnolia lost 55-51 at Klein Oak on Tuesday night in non-district play.
The Bulldogs (0-2) were led by Brynn Botkin, who had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Audrey Andrews had 11 points and and Gabrielle Huetter had seven. Sophie Christiansen added seven points and six rebounds to the Magnolia effort.
The Bulldogs are off Friday, then travel to Kingwood Park on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. start.
KATY PAETOW DOWNS THE LADYKATS
Willis fell 62-42 in a non-district game at Katy Paetow Tuesday night.
The Ladykats (0-2) got 10 points from Jasmine Kelly and eight by TeTe Hollis.
Ainsley Patrick led in rebounding with six.
Willis begins a tournament at Baytown Lee on Thursday.
COLLEGE PARK FALLS
College Park lost 75-40 at Cy-Fair in non-district play Tuesday night.
The Lady Cavaliers (0-2) were led by Becky Van Roekel’s 12 points and Jenny Battiste added nine points.
College Park hosts Fort Bend Travis on Friday at 5 p.m.
