College Park clinched a playoff spot with its 57-44 win over The Woodlands on Saturday in District 13-6A play.
The Lady Cavaliers (15-7, 5-2) earned the season sweep over the Lady Highlanders (6-16, 1-6) and will head to the postseason for the first time since 2019 after three more district contests wrap up the regular season.
College Park had a balanced effort in the win. Treasure Harrison had 12 points, four rebounds and three steals. Bobbi Bazzle had 12 points as well, to go along with seven rebounds. Mia Olguin had nine points, four steals and three rebounds, and Ali Diop scored 10 points.
The Woodlands got 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists from Ale Merodio in the loss. Anna-Claire Biggerstaff had nine points and seven rebounds.
Both teams are back in action at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Woodlands is at Willis while College Park hosts Grand Oaks.
Lake Creek edges Montgomery
Lake Creek defeated Montgomery 58-34 in District 20-5A action Saturday.
Kennedy Olvier led the Lions (13-8, 8-2) with 14 points. Taliyah McShan added 13, and Makenize Logeman had 12.
Emma Moore led the Lady Bears (4-14, 1-8) with 12 points.
Lake Creek returns to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday at home against Kingwood Park. New Caney hosts Porter at the same time that day.
Conroe sweeps Willis
Conroe completed a season sweep of Willis with a 40-28 win Saturday in District 13-6A play.
The Lady Tigers (9-6, 4-3) got nine points from Makenzie Castille and seven apiece from Isabella Stafford and Sarah Sowell.
The Ladykats (2-18, 0-7) got eight points and five rebounds from Shemaiah Eldridge. Janiah Traylor had seven points, three rebounds and two steals. Izzy Gonzalez had six points, three rebounds and three steals.
Willis hosts The Woodlands at 7 p.m. Wednesday. At the same time, Conroe is at Oak Ridge.
Caney Creek tops Porter
Caney Creek beat Porter 39-29 in a defensive District 20-5A battle Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Panthers (8-12, 5-4) created important distance between themselves and the Lady Spartans (9-13, 4-6) with the win. Caney Creek is in fourth place and Porter is fifth.
The Lady Panthers led 14-7 at the break before scoring picked up a bit in the second half. Caney Creek got 15 points from Olivia Hernandez in the win and Hannah Foster added nine.
Azahriah Ellis scored 13 points to lead Porter.
Caney Creek hosts Cleveland at 7 p.m. Wednesday while Porter is at rival New Caney at the same time.
New Caney falls to K-Park
New Caney suffered a 36-34 loss against Kingwood Park in District 20-5A action Saturday.
Tori Garza led the Lady Eagles (12-8, 7-3) with 14 points, and Makayla Franklin added seven.
New Caney plays at Lake Creek at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Oak Ridge tops Grand Oaks
Oak Ridge beat Grand Oaks 51-43 on Saturday afternoon in District 13-6A play.
The win, paired with Conroe’s win over Willis, created a three-way tie for third place between the Tigers (8-10, 4-5), War Eagles (10-10, 4-5) and Grizzlies (10-10, 4-5).
Oak Ridge was led Saturday by Collin Heckenbach’s 13 points. Ian Egele chipped in eight.
Grand Oaks got 12 points from Jordan Reece and Samuel Nkassa. Eli Augustine scored 10.
Oak Ridge is at Conroe at 7 p.m. Tuesday night. Grand Oaks hosts district-leading College Park at the same time.
Lake Creek runs past Montgomery
Lake Creek beat Montgomery 67-40 on Saturday in District 20-5A play.
The Lions (12-6, 7-1) got 19 points and five assists from Jordan Fitch in the win. Ty George had 17 points and was 5 of 6 from beyond the arc. Hudson Boyd added 13 points.
Montgomery (5-12, 2-6) got 13 points from Jordon Halter on Saturday and is at Dayton at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Lake Creek hosts Kingwood Park at the same time in a battle of the district’s teams tied atop the standings.
Porter edges Caney Creek
Porter held on for a 36-35 win over Caney Creek on Saturday in District 20-5A play.
The Spartans (9-10, 5-3) got 11 points apiece from Luke Currier and Caleb Garcia.
Caney Creek (4-16, 0-8) is at Cleveland at 7 p.m. Wednesday, while Porter hosts rival New Caney at the same time.
K-Park pulls past New Caney
Kingwood Park used a big third quarter to pull away to a 66-51 win over New Caney on Saturday in District 20-5A play.
The Eagles (8-7, 5-3) trailed 21-18 at halftime before the Panthers (18-2, 7-1) had a 20-8 edge in the third quarter.
Kendall Dove had 20 points to lead New Caney. Jaxon Olvera added 12 points.
New Caney is at Porter at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Conroe beats Willis
Conroe earned its second win over Willis in a 64-54 effort Saturday in District 13-6A play.
The Tigers got 16 points and nine rebounds from Kamari Weatherspoon in the win. Nigel Leday had 15 points and seven steals.
Conroe (8-10, 4-5) hosts Oak Ridge at 7 p.m. Tuesday while Willis (2-19, 0-9) is at The Woodlands at the same time.
