New Caney senior D’Juan Grant announced his verbal commitment to the University of Lousiana at Monroe in a tweet Tuesday morning.
The defensive back, listed at 5-foot-10, 165 pounds on 247sports, expressed gratitude in a message on Twitter before ultimately announcing his commitment to the Warhawks. On 247sports, Grant also had listed offers from Abilene Christian, Air Force, Austin Peay and Bryant.
“First I want to give a special thanks to the man above without him none of this would be possible,” Grant’s message, in part, read. “I also want to give a thanks to my parents and family for the support, love, guidance, and sacrifices they made for me.”
Grant went on to thank those who pushed him, including coaches throughout his journey from youth football to his commitment.
In 2019, ULM was 5-7 overall with a 4-4 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. The last winning seasons for the Warhawks came in 2012, when they posted an 8-5 record. Since then, ULM has been 6-6 twice — in 2013 and 2018.
According to MaxPreps, Grant had 64 tackles and three tackles for loss as a junior. He also defensed seven passes. The Eagles finished the regular season unbeaten before a first-round playoff loss to Richmond Foster.
