Neither Montgomery nor Lake Creek had all-District 10-5A (Div. II) superlatives after making the playoffs, but the two county schools had plenty of representation on the district’s teams.
District champion Huntsville led the way with three superlatives. Defensive lineman Ed Bobino was named District MVP, Calvin Simmons was the Defensive Newcomer and Quaterian Riles shared the Defensive MVP with A&M Consolidated’s Eric Goodman. Rodney Southern, the Hornets leader, was named Coach of the Year.
Bryan Rudder’s Keithron Lee was the district’s Offensive MVP, and Lamar Consolidated’s Dylan Garrett was the Offensive Newcomer.
Both Montgomery and Lake Creek were represented on the first team offense.
Montgomery had six selections: lineman Dalton Merryman, tight end Triston Johnson, wideout Tre Harden, tailback Jalen Washington, quarterback Brock Bolfing and kicker Nick de las Alas.
For the Lions, Cullen Lenamon was the center and Chance Niesner was on the offensive line. Justin Freeney was one of three juniors at running back, along with Washington and Huntsville’s Jaylon Mcclain. Huntsville’s Riles was the first team fullback.
The offensive line was filled out by Huntsville’s Jose Cruz, Rudder’s Jason Batiste, Lamar’s Allen Gerberman and A&M Consol’s Rhett Larson.
Rayshawn Glover (Lamar), Jax Medica (Fulshear) and Jordan Woodberry (Huntsville) were all first team wideouts.
The other first team specialists were kicker Christian Avelar (Huntsville), deep snapper Clayton Mcclain (Lamar) and Woodberry, who also returned kicks for Huntsville.
Montgomery had a player on the first team defense in every position group. End Cameron Middleton, lineman Zach Cooper, inside linebacker Leslie Williams, outside linebacker Zach Anderson and defensive back Josiah Gaetani were all honored.
Lake Creek had two players on the first team unit in back Kyle Scott and punter Xavier Gable.
Ends Javon Jones (Fulshear) and Jaden Thomas (A&M Consol) rounded out the first team at that group. Brian Bobino (Huntsville), Lyndon Williams (Rudder) and Jadin Nelson (Lamar) were the other linemen.
Jayden Ross (Huntsville) and Vince Sheffield (A&M Consol) were named first team inside linebackers. Cody Mclerran (Huntsville) and Tyndall McNamara (A&M Consol) were on the outside.
At back, Darrian Boston (Lamar) and Huntsville’s JaDarian White and Ethan Minor were honored.
Six Montgomery players were on the second team offense. Nick Afflitto was named to the team at center along with Huntsville’s Trey Garrett.
The Bears’ Trey Terna and Reid Terner were on the second team offensive line. Jacob Sandegren was a second team receiver, Adavion Johnson was honored at tailback, and Zach Anderson was the deep snapper.
Lake Creek’s Sam Lee was a second team receiver along with Marcus Diles (Rudder), Parker Williams (Fulshear), Darrian Boston (Lamar) and Brodie Daniels (A&M Consol).
Joseph Perez of A&M Consol was the second team fullback. Two more Tigers, Keshun Thomas and Sutton Lake, were second team tailbacks.
Rudder’s EJ Ezar and Fulshear’s Jackson Edge were the second team signal callers.
The offensive line was rounded out by Chris Smith (Huntsville), Khol Watson (A&M Consol) and John Jones (Fulshear). Huntsville’s Jamarcus Howard was the second team tight end.
Lamar’s Sebastian Gomez was the second team kicker. Huntsville’s JaDarian White was the returner.
Montgomery had six players on the second team defense. Hunter Delahoussaye was an inside linebacker and Jamael Jefferson was at outside linebacker. Wyatt Kelly was an end.
At defensive back, Mason White and Kyler Wilson were honored. Travis Brown was the second team punter.
Lake Creek had a pair of second team defensive picks. Cole Kilgore was an honoree at defensive end along with Devion Howard (Rudder), Joseph Campbell (Lamar) and Joseph Perez (A&M Consol).
Pierce Morcos was a second team defensive back for the Lions. Waylin Zapoli (Huntsville), De’Andre Heard (Rudder) and Jaylen Walter (A&M Consol) rounded out the position group.
Colton Stewart (Rudder), Jesus Duran (A&M Consol) and Seth Smith (Fulshear) were all linemen on the second team.
Luke Guzetta (Fulshear), Clayton Mcclain (Lamar), Tayvian Guidry (Lamar) and Jamarcus Jones (Rudder) were all inside linebackers. Jeremiah Johnson (Rudder), Cade Carter (Fulshear) and Eugene Mayfield (Lamar) were outside backers on the second team.
