Both the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and the Texas Girls Coaches Association released their All-State basketball teams recently with Montgomery County players recognized on by both organizations.

Lake Creek senior Pierce Spencer earned first-team All-State honors by the TABC in Class 5A. The Nicholls State signee averaged 25.4 points per game this winter to lead the Lions. Spencer also led Lake Creek (27-12) in rebounding at 7.4 per game, assists with 5.6 per game and steals at 3.4 per game. Spencer played a big role in the most successful season in the brief history of Lake Creek, which made the Region III semifinals earlier this month in just its second season.

Magnolia West senior Kamryn Jones was recognized by the TABC and the TGCA with a first-team selection on both Class 5A teams. Jones, a University of Houston signee, averaged 19.2 points per game on 57 percent shooting for the Mustangs. Jones grabbed 12 rebounds per game as well as 3.9 steals, 1.5 blocks and 1.1 assists. The Mustangs (30-9) reached the Region III quarterfinals for the third straight year back in February.

New Caney junior Tori Garza was recognized by the TGCA with a first-team selection as well in Class 5A. Garza, was the District 20-5A co-Most Valuable Player after averaging 15 points, seven rebounds three assists and three steals per game. The Lady Eagles (27-8) advanced to the area round in Region III for the first time since 2005 back in February.

Other Greater Houston players of note made all-state by the TABC included LJ Cryer (Morton Ranch), Daylan Hamilton (Klein Forest) and Marcus Williams (Dickinson) in Class 6A. In Class 5A, Bryce Griggs (Fort Bend Hightower) and Ramon Walker (Shadow Creek) earned the nod. In Class 4A, Jacob Harvey (Huffman-Hargrave), Rubin Jones (Houston Yates), Antown Norman (Yates), Daylen Pressley (Stafford) and Demari Williams (Fulshear) were selected.

For Greater Houston girls selections by the TABC, Elyssa Coleman (Atascocita), De’Yona Gaston (Pearland), Kyndall Hunter (Cypress Creek), Rori Harmon (Cypress Creek) and Maliyah Johnson (Summer Creek) were selected in Class 6A. Destini Lombard (Hightower) and Mia Rivers (College Station) represented in Class 5A while Malon Garner (Yates)and Ashlon Jackson (Hardin-Jefferson) were Class 4A picks.
