Water Rescue is available from Vessel Assist for any emergencies and towing needs while you are on the lake. The number to call is Cell: 936-524-0448 to reach Captain Gary Lewis. All boaters should keep this important phone number handy...just in case the unexpected happens! Keep in mind that the many fantastic waterfront marinas on the lake are here to assist you also.
Water Safety is always to be observed on Lake Conroe as many "personal watercraft" are occupying the waters along with the larger power boats. These jetski craft are small and hard to see. And with the many watersports associated with Lake Conroe, always be on the lookout for fallen waterskiers or swimmers. Boats and alcohol do not mix! Don't drink and dive a boat! Not only does alcohol consumption impair your abilities, but the Lake Patrol strictly enforces the Laws concerning alcohol and boating safety.

Water Sports go hand-in-hand with boating on Lake Conroe. Jet Skiing (personal watercraft) has become one of the favorite recreational activities for families of all sizes. Not only do children enjoy the thrill of "cutting through the water", but adults find the sport just as thrilling. In fact, don't be surprised to find Real Estate salesmen offering their services while patroling the shores on on a 4-seater jet ski!
Water Skiing has always been one of the more popular activities for the younger crowd. With the multitude of "protected coves" on all sides of Lake Conroe, calm, smooth water surfaces can be found almost al times of the day. This is especially true of the un-bulkheaded shores of the Sam Houston National Forest on the north end of the lake...where the real pros can be found slaloming through their courses!
Wind Surfing and sailing are more active near the southern shores of Lake Conroe since the heavier winds prevail nearer the dam that contains the lake. The winds are usually heaviest in mid to late afternoon.
For the extreme water enthusiast, try Going to the Air behind your boat with Para-Sailing or Kite-Skiing. Not for the faint hearted, these activities require special equipment you can find at Parasail Workshop, Inc., but finding a hang gliding kite may be hard to do. Several years ago, it was not uncommon to see skiers flying behind a boat. Today, the sport seems to have almost vanished. LakeConroe.com would love to hear from enthusiasts that fly the lake!

Boat and Watercraft Storage facilities are all around the lake with several actually being on the lakefront for quick launching. Some even do the launching for you! Look through our Dry Storage and Marina links to find the facility best suited to your needs. Remember, your boat can be easier to steal than an automobile! So make sure you look for a secure environment to keep your boat or make necessary arrangements to make your boat an unattractive target for thieves.

Enjoy the Easy Life aboard Lake Conroe's own Southern Empress, an authentic Mississipi paddle-wheel river boat.
