Grand Harbor/Harbor Side in Montgomery is hosting a patriotic 4th of July parade beginning at 10 a.m. at the subdivision entrance. More than 60 local veterans of World War II will ride in classic cars and convertibles courtesy of the Montgomery His & Hers Car Club and the Conroe Cruisers. Following the parade, a Stars & Stripes ceremony will be held at Grand Harbor Park featuring special guests Chaplain Brig. Gen. Hiram “Doc” Jones, Lone Star Honor Flight founder Brenda Beaven and former POW Renard “Brenny” Kampstra. A variety of activities will be available for the whole family.
The community of Bentwater will hold its annual Fourth of July parade starting at 10 a.m. The parade will honor Dr. Bob Meaders, of Montgomery, founder of Operation Helmet, the nonprofit organization which provides improved helmet protection for soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. The parade, which is not open to the public, attracted more than 160 decorated golf carts, large floats, motorcycles and antique cars.

Fourth of July events
Today “Star-Spangled Salute” The annual “Star-Spangled Salute” concert at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands features the Houston Symphony led by Conductor Michael Krajewski. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. The symphony will perform a variety of traditional favorites, American classics and Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture.”
